This guided tour goes to Paleokastritsa, to watch the fascinating monatric life of the monks in the Byzantine Monastery and then via Lakones, where you will get the most amazing view over the entire west coast to the beautiful area of Koloura and Kassiopi.
On this excursion you will explore the most interesting places of the north. First, we will travel to Paleokastritsa, which endowed to be one of the most picturesque places in Europe. The lush green vegetation intrudes all the way to the shore line where rugged rocks and Ionian waves do their best to repel them. The highlight of this place is the Byzantine Monastery, which was founded in 1225 while the buildings in their present state date back to the 18th century. It is a great place to enjoy a peaceful sunset overlooking the Ionian Sea and you will feel like walking through the gate into another world. Your guide will introduce you into the fascinating life of the monks there and maybe you will buy one of the small bottles of olive oil which are produced by the monks and contained in the simplest of bottles without any labels. Feel the tranquility of monastic life - time doesn't matter here.
Leaving the monastery, we will travel through the mountain village Lakones and we will get the most amazing birds-eye view over the entire west coast. Capture the panoramic scenery on film or memory card - it will be one of your most beautiful landscape pictures ever!
The tour continues along the ridge via Makrades, through the Troumpeta mountain pass and many other small villages to the village of Kassiopi, where you have time for lunch or leisure. On our return we drive along the east coast with wonderful views to the Ionian Sea and Albania.
